Yeah, I was kind of surprised because Adobe, unless I’m mistaken, has had a pretty good track record.

It would seem that the PDF is a victim of it’s own Success. There are so many people using the Adobe Reader for opening PDF Files that it’s a no-brainer that there will be millions of people using the program. Todays crackers and bot-herders can’t pass up an opportunity this massive for exploits. It’s same reason that there is a sense that Mac and Linux are more secure than Microsoft Windows. Not necessarily – There is just a smaller number of users and thus less development and attention from the bad-guys.
